Winter Training Update

Happy Holidays from HV United! We hope you are all healthy and happy as you enjoy this time with your families after such a strange year! HV United is committed to transparent communication, so we wanted to update everyone on several things. Note that, as with everything this year, guidelines/restrictions are constantly changing and we ask you to be patient as we work to navigate that in the safest way possible for our players.

COVID Update/Training Status

After the two-week break in November, guidance from the state soccer organization (UYSA) has allowed training to resume for teams who are preparing for tournaments, but has encouraged a continued “pause” for those who are not. HV United is not currently scheduling club-sponsored trainings in December, but will resume after our holiday break as planned, the week of January 11th. In the meantime, small groups/individuals are always welcome to connect with their trainers about private training sessions on their own time and at their own expense.

Winter Training

The winter training schedule is in process and will be released in the next week or so. As per results from the poll the administration took in October and county guidelines, training has been somewhat adapted from our usual winter procedures.

  • All teams will have two scheduled sessions a week.
  • The younger ages (2009 and below) will have two sessions in the Wasatch County Rec Center. The older teams (2008 and above) will have one session inside and one session outside.
  • Masks will need to be worn to and from the fields. If comfortable, players are encouraged to wear them during training. Coaches will wear masks.
  • Limited numbers are allowed on the field, and our schedule has accounted for that. There will be no field sharing between teams, and very occasionally teams may need to be separated into activity groups and rotated on and off the fields. Parents will not be allowed on the fields during training.
  • Drinking fountains will NOT be in operation, so players MUST bring their own water.
  • There is a fee to use the Rec Center. The most cost-effective way to pay for this is to purchase a family pass or a three-month individual pass for your player (Christmas Gift?!). We will likely train in the Rec Center from January until the middle of March.

At the moment, it appears that some winter tournaments will go on as planned, while others are doubtful. Tournaments held in Nevada (including Coyote Cup) and California are under very difficult restrictions and are unlikely to occur. St. George and Arizona options are currently your best bet. Tournaments are NEVER mandatory, so teams and coaching staffs should discuss and proceed as desired.

The Wasatch High School boys’ soccer team will again be running their fundraiser futsal league Jan-Feb in the Timpanogos Middle School gyms. While not required, this is an alternative option for getting team playing time during the winter months. The deadline to register is Dec 18th. Contact Jared Hendryat[email protected]wasatch.eduif you have any questions. Registration is available here:

Staff Changes

We are sad to announce the departure of Coach Isaac from our staff this month. Isaac has been serving soccer in our club community for nearly five years and has positively impacted many teams and players. We are sorry to lose him and wish him the very best in his next life stages!

We are looking forward to getting back on the field with all our teams.
Happy Holidays from your favorite soccer club!
